Biography:
Dr. Filomeno earned a B.S. from the University of Connecticut in allied health sciences in 2013, and went on to complete her DPT from the University of Connecticut in 2016. She began treating in acute care and in an outpatient orthopedic clinic expanding her knowledge in orthopedic, medical, surgical, neurological and cardiology patient populations. She has been practicing with mobilizing patients from floor level of care to intensive care units including patients in the cardiac, neuro-trauma, surgical, cardiothoracic surgical and medical ICUs. She has training and experience with mobilizing patients with complex lines including ventricular assistive devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps and patients on ECMO. She went on to complete specialty certifications in Parkinson’s Disease, Brain injury, Stroke, and is recognized as American Board of Physical Therapy Specialty certified in Neurological Physical Therapy. She began her experience in the academic role in January of 2022 as she wanted to share her passion and enthusiasm with the evolving students as they learn how to enter the field professionally.
